My HP Studies Through 12-Steps
Read my Blog article where I researched a harsh critic of ACIM, who is a cult researcher and co-founded a prominent cult podcast:

I’m VERY aware of the controversies surrounding A Course in Miracles as well as the entire New Thought movement.
Currently, while reading these books, I’m also:
Learning more about New Thought history, and where it stems from
Learn more about Christian Science, since Helen’s mother was a Christian Scientist
Research MK Ultra and ACIM’s history with it!
Comparing the Bible against ACIM
Comparing Atheist / Humanism / Secularism against ACIM and the Bible
See if ACOL has much in common with ACIM

ACIM + ACOL
So far, this is what I’m loosely currently working through as a “Higher Power” through recovery, including more contemplative Catholic studies.
For 10+ years, I’ve practiced “A Course in Miracles” (ACIM) before my fundamentalist evangelical and the church encouraged me to throw it out, along with all my other New Age and New Thought texts.
In doing so, I deeply studied ACIM’s history to understand why Christians were so against it. They weren’t totally wrong — but they weren’t totally right, either.
So I picked it up again, this time fully understanding that it might be another mind-fuck.
I’ve more recently also started reading “A Course in Love” (ACOL). They’re both spiritual psycho-therapy curriculums that use Christian terms in decidedly NON-religious ways.
They claim that their purpose is at removing the blocks to love, which they say is our inheritance. I’m also comparing them against the Bible, as both are kind of culty texts.
But that’s what I’m currently reading!

In processing religious trauma while doing 12-step recovery, I’ve felt called to pen a book, “A Course on Serenity” to help others struggling with a Higher Power (HP) concept.
Through Two-Way Prayer, I’ll be writing a recovery book for my generation struggling with HP, God, the Universe, or any kind of belief.
Some topics I’ve been exploring include:
Recovery
12-steps
Reconstruction
Deconstruction
Higher Power
Identity
Politics
Religion
Mental Health
Neurodivergence
Connection
Being “unexually yolked”
Friends
Family
Church communities
