New Thought

Dearest J,

I’ve been so back and forth with everything. I haven’t been sure what to believe anymore. Do I believe in a more mystical version of Christianity, and obviously I do, but is this OK? I mean I threw out so much material, after all, when I converted. However I find that there must be a broader view at Christianity. It can’t be SO small.

You know, I’ve been thinking a LOT about the New Thought movement, and have stumbled upon a lot of explanations. First of all, I’m realizing that a lot of “New Thought” is actually very related to the 1800s, when people didn’t have the greatest access to great medical interventions. That’s why people would turn to prayer, instead of going through surgeries.

I’m realizing there’s a part of it, though, that very much connects to mystical Christianity as well. I’ve been listening to sermons by Fr. Richard Rohr, who founded the Center for Actions and Contemplation, which has been interesting to learn more about. It’s connected to Christianity, but not really. I guess this ties back to my post on Perrenialism.

The reason I’m diving into this so much is because I’m creating a set of documents for the public-domain version of A Course in Miracles, which bridges the gap between a Christian and New-Thought book. It’s kind of aligned to the Unity Church ideologies.

I dunno God. I guess I just ask you to let me know … if this is NOT the real way or path to you, then let me know.
