Blasphemy as Ritual

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEED watching this video put on by RfR!

In fact, I’ve thought about it very often, especially as I consider my own ordination.

“Dr. Rev. Sarah St. Abaddon is an ordained Minister of The Satanic Temple and Co-Congregation Head of The Satanic Temple Florida. She is deeply rooted in the non-theistic Satanic community. She holds a Ph.D. in General Psychology, currently working in higher education with a history of working in addictions, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. The psychology behind Satanism, blasphemy, and ritual are especially near and dear to her heart.”

When it comes to becoming an ordained minister, it’s part of that practice. That women cannot be a minister. That being queer is not ok. That believing I’m an independent voter is a wasted vote. Being able to agree with all people as being ok, rather than being called a doormat. Not being ashamed to say I’m in 12-step recovery but have a lot of issues with the higher power language and the NEED to flexibility in language!

Though the idea of blasphemy on purpose to me can get a little “awkward”, in small ways I can understand how much it can heal religious trauma.

TRIGGER WARNING:
The episode below is EXTREME in it’s belief on blasphemy, but worth a listen if you’re dealing with some serious rage at religion and wanting to do a big middle finger at all things religion to help yourself move past trauma.

Note: I’ve been very curious about the difference between Church of Satan vs Satanic Temple and this site was a very good rundown. In addition, here’s a guide I found!
