Reading “Faith After Doubt” by Brian McClaren
Dearest J,
I’m currently reading “Faith After Doubt: Why Your Beliefs Stopped Working and What to Do About It” by Brian D. McLaren (click for Amazon link) and so far it’s been really great. I found the book in a little book-house while traveling for my cousins wedding, where I definitely had a faith crisis while traveling there on a road trip with my fundamentalist evangelical sister, who takes a literalist biblical worldview. Here’s the book, and I knw it probably would be good based on the back cover as well:
So far, I’m really enjoying it because it doesn’t avoid the obvious. And it’s very well written, as well!
My concern however, is also, with all my questioning … I realize that I am not really sure if it’s ethical to continue spreading Christian messages, however there’s a part of me that would prefer that over something else. Not the fundie stuff, but just a “practical theology”. And anyway, I also told my sister yesterday, it’s not good hate Catholics (she doesn’t, she’s just Protestant) but I told her it’s not good because it goes against ecumenical teachings, which I personally think are good. However, she thinks they’re bad.
Anyways J, I’m just tired. I feel exhausted, and especially a year into this blog, and this site, I feel like it’s not really become a business, but it’s truly become a place for me to just share my feelings. Abeit, them being very complicated, indeed.
Amen, Fay <3
